Local craftswoman, Karin Brown, has transformed her passion for creating rustic styled picture frames, unique mirrors, metal candle boxes, lanterns and planter boxes into a full blown business endeavor. She set out on a mission to develop a breadth of products right here in the Treasure Valley and offer them for sale online to the rest of the world. In order to accomplish this task, Karin needed to have images of her pieces to display on her website. She came to us here at Steve Smith Photography to assist her in showcasing each of the products individually as well as in atmospheric group settings.
We began this collaboration in the studio. Our skillful production director, Jeane Gadd-Smith, organized each piece into an efficient photographic work flow. Each frame, mirror, candle box, lantern and planter box at a time was staged, styled and photographed by none other than Steve Smith. These simple shots allow the products to stand out by themselves and give the consumer an accurate depiction of what they’re looking to purchase. Each piece is easily identifiable and can be perused through on Karin’s site. www.horseflyhomedecor.com
The second part of our adventure focused in on clustering the products in various natural settings and home environments. We looked no farther than Karin’s parent’s home in Eagle, Idaho to utilize as the staging grounds for these shots. This beautiful property offered up tall grasses, nice shade trees, waterfront views, cascading waterfalls and inviting patio and indoor spaces. It was a treat to have such a plethora of idyllic settings to photograph her rustic, elegant pieces. Below, you’ll find several screen shots that have been taken from The Horse Fly’s ever evolving website. We hope you’ll enjoy her pieces as much as we have!
